Michael has actively engaged in sharing his knowledge and expertise, delivering public talks at events like The School and Academies Show and IncludEd, focusing on inclusion in education. His commitment to professional development is evident through the publication of his book, ‘The Head of Year’s Handbook,’ and delivering CPD sessions for experienced practitioners and those engaging in initial teacher training.

Furthermore, he is involved in research, pursuing a doctorate (EdD) at the University of Chester with a focus on the effects of policy on disadvantaged and vulnerable students. His research interests also include exploring how identity influences future success. Notably, he has contributed to national discussions, such as the joint National Youth Agency commission with the UK Parliament on the role of youth work in formal education.
